Picking up where One (Imber) left off, Two (Nipha) continues to explore spontaneous textural ideas and melodies without forethought, by means of live improvised performance.
From the sparsely paced opening ‘The Day Before’ and it’s companion ‘The Last Day at The Resort’, to the sliding timbres and bloom of ‘A Strange Way to Walk Away at 45 Feet’, the overall atmosphere is one of considered restraint, with each movement given its own time to evolve and reflect itself, resulting in a gradual tonal arc of elegiac grace and patience.
Performed and recorded in a single session by two musicians using electric guitars and fx pedals, none of the music heard here was prewritten, prearranged or planned before being played and recorded. What followed is what is presented here, in the order it was played, containing the humanities and decisions of real-time performance.
Two (Nipha) is the second of three releases completed in such fashion, with the final instalment scheduled for release later 2020.
